A "Bad State"

For the second straight year, my fate has spoken and I'm being transferred to my third school in three years. Along with moving schools, I have to move grades as well. I found this out two and a half weeks ago and it has been a rough two and a half weeks. I've tried really hard to think positively about it all and I have had many colleagues and commenters that have tried to help me look at the bright side, but as I keep using the excuse for everything to Dave, "I am in a bad state." I can't put it any better than that.

It is really hard in so many ways. I moved just the year before and moving IS NOT easy as a teacher, even moving to a different classroom is hard. It's like I am back at square one, for the second time.  I also haven't been able to build a stable foundation with a faculty and the parents. The parents have loved me at each school and they always hope I'm going to be there next year. It is really hard to build that rapport of parents, too. Many people have expressed their support to me about this unfortunate deal that has been handed to me which makes me feel better.

I even decided to have a sit-down with the assistant superintendent and stood up for myself. That's not like me! It didn't change anything, but I knew if I didn't let out my feelings to those that have thrown me around like a rag doll, I'd regret it. I was very professional but forward.

Today was the last day of school and I felt it pretty hard. I shed some tears and squeezed my little kiddos tight before they left. I feel very exhausted. It's a little different than my Epstein-Barr Virus exhaustion. It's more like a burned out exhaustion and you aren't suppose to feel that as a teacher until 25 years down the road! My heart has been broken and I can't do a whole lot about it but accept it and move forward.

My Astrologist

Dave was ecstatic about the solar eclipse. He had been waiting it's arrival for months! We were actually planning on going down to Kannaraville, Utah to see the perfect alignment and the "ring of fire." We didn't make it down there because of many things going on so Dave set up his "equipment" in his parents' yard. The whole night and even through dinner, you would catch him checking through the telescope and then hear him shouting for others to check it out. He gets so excited about these things and wants everyone else to experience it. Sadly, the clouds got in the way of seeing a major difference, but we did notice a change of darkness when it was covering the sun as much as it could.

Mishap

Saturday, Dave, Ry and Michael (Price) went on an intense 70 mile bike ride with two pro riders and some other tough cookies. The ride was tough in it self but throw the riders they went with on top of it. Bridge and I went for a ride too, but not nearly as intense. We rode to and waited for the boys at the Price's. The boys were about dead when they got back. We sat and chatted a bit and let them sit and catch a breath for a second. We finally decided to pack up the cars with the bikes and head home. As we were pulling up to the house, Dave commented with a happy sigh that it was great to have our roof fixed. We pulled right on into the garage at about 3 or 4 miles per hour...and then we heard a loud crushing noise and felt skidding. It was a horrible sound  and feeling. Dave just dropped his head and I screeched, covered my mouth with my hands and had my eyes wide open in shock. Yes, our bikes were on top and I wanted Dave to take the first look. I was sure they were  mangled and crushed. I finally got out after seeing Dave not react to badly. The bike frames seemed to be fine but I looked up and saw a hole in our house. We figured that my seat, which was slightly ripped, had punctured the hole in the house. My bike came away with a ripped seat and a couple of scratches. Dave's seat was a little bent but nothing else seemed to be wrong. Dave's car and bike rack took the most beating. His car now has some dents, scratches and the rain gutter took a beating as the rack ripped from it. The rack is a bit twisted but can be easily adjusted and we don't feel too bad about it because we bought it off KSL for cheap. We feel pretty lucky because our bikes are worth more than the car and rack put together.  Dave was wide awake after the fact! Moral of the story, don't let Dave drive after one of those rides unless the passenger is fully aware of their surroundings! Now I get to chuckle each time I pull up to our house and feel relief that it wasn't more than that.

My Momma's Surprise Party

My momma turned this big 6 0 on May 9th. I wanted to do something extra special for her this year so I roped my family into helping me throw a surprise birthday party for her. Saturday, May 12th was the night. We've been planning it for some time. I have to admit, I had anxiety about it all coming together but honestly, nothing could have gone better! She was completely oblivious to knowing anything. Bridget, my sister-in-law even was apart of it and she tricked my mom good!

Michael took her out on a date while a group of us tackled all the set up and food. (Thanks goes to my free help- Kaitlin, Meadow, Bridget, Ryan, Dave and my dad.) When he brought her home, they came in and the first thing we hear her say is, "I need to go to the potty." It was quite humorous. Kaitlin then went into acting mode and told my mom that she did something to the carpet downstairs and that she needed to go see it. My mom was completely surprised as she walked down the stairs to a big group of people that love her. I think I caught my dad with a tear or two:) The night went so well. So many people showed up and helped make the night even more great.

We made a picture collage shaped as 60. I didn't get a good picture of it but if you look hard you can see it on the large glass windows.

Here she comes

Teacher Appreciation Week Plus

As Dave and I were driving back from my parents Saturday, I had an ah ha. The week of Teacher Appreciation Week is always the week before Mother's Day Weekend. I don't know if that is planned that way or just a coincidence but it's kind of fitting.
I am sad this year is coming to an end. I've been on an emotional roller coaster these last few weeks. There has been quite a bit going on. About a month ago, I found out that my position wasn't secure again and it threw me for a loop. I did my best to hold it together but it just seemed as if one thing after another was piling on top of me. Fnding out about my job was just one more thing. I'm feeling a lot better after some reassuring words from colleagues and many prayers. It is still unknown where I'll be next year, but I know it will all work out how it is suppose to.
I was released from being the secretary in primary this Sunday and called as the Beehive adviser in Young Womens.  I've been in primary since Dave and I were married. This will definitely be a change. I have a wild but cute group of girls to work with and I'm excited.
Summer is approaching fast and I am excited but a little stressed on where I'll be next year and if I have to move again. I need the break but I'm sad to see another group of kiddos that I've fallen in love with move on.

Brittney and John Are Married!

Congratulations goes out to one of my besties, Britt and her new hubby, John! They were married in the Draper Temple. Other than the wind after the temple ceremony, the day was beautiful! The temple ceremony couldn't have had a better feeling. I am so happy for Britt and John! Britt looked gorgeous and John was his stunning self. I'm excited to welcome John into our circle of friends.

They had their lunch at Tuscany. It was beautiful and delicious.
My brother, Michael, was the instigator in this relationship so John asked him to say a few words. He said John hasn't stopped thanking him since he set them up; so cute!

We had a little bit of fun decorating the car. We got quite a few helpers so the car was full of stuff and balloons by the time we were done!

They had to pop a lot of balloons to even get in the car.
John wouldn't open the door because there was shaving cream all over the handle. He called for Britt to open it from the inside.
Adios! Have fun in Hawaii!
