Happenings this Week

We've had a week full of events! Here is a few of the bigger ones that have happened.

First of all, this is the front view x-ray from Bridget's collar bone break. Ouch! She happened to make this fine, 4-place break in the first 60 seconds of our soccer game two weeks ago. She had surgery on Monday. Bridge, we wish you a fast, painless (emotionally and physically:) ) recovery!

Monday night we had a visitor...my little sister, Kaitlin, had a sleepover at our place. We grilled up some pork kabobs, played some tennis, stackable Uno, and fell asleep to Madagascar. It was a lot of fun!

Tuesday we almost made another visit to the ER...this time with my indistructable Dave:) Well not quite as you can see here. We were at his work picnic and his boss decided they needed some real action in the blow up boxing ring...well yes my husband was the lucky one to go up against a co-worker that had a good reputation as a fighter back in high school..we found that out after the fact. This is after we got the excessive bleeding to stop.

Congrats to Brittany, Cris and Cora to their new baby boy addition to their family!!! Cristopher Jonas Fowers was born, after being a week late, Wednesday June 24 at 2:20 am
6 lbs. 11 oz. 21 inches long

Saturday we were able to head up Farmington Canyon with some friends, Brittney and Brandon. We took 4-wheelers up to their cabin and relaxed for the afternoon. Well Britt and I relaxed while the boys built a dam...can you say beavers?? I swear it takes just one of them with a little idea and BAM their off building, climbing or throwing things. They missed you Nic!

This picture is a view from a lower pond. Dave took it one because he loves the views up there and two, you probably can't see it but there is a truck close to the top of the mountain at a horizontal incline of about 75-80%. Don't know how it hasn't tumbled down the mountain yet.

This is perfect for bbqs! Anyone up for a bbq this summer?? Let us know!

I've had so much fun picking things out for our first house, especially colors if you can't tell. I think my favorite rooms are the kitchen and master bedroom but just wait til I post pictures of our guest/my craft room when it's done; it's my happy place. It's been a lot of work but I love it! I love having a place of our own that we can come home to each day and plop our tired selves on a couch or cuddle in any room of the house. It's great!

Open House Party

The Serious Game

This is a very quick game. All these people watching got out in the first 30-60 seconds of the game.

The winner was my father-in-law, Mike! Great times.

Then we played Silent Football. The shiny stuff on peoples faces is tape...how can you keep quiet while sitting in a group with these faces??
(P.S. no one can get mad at me for posting these! I love you all the same!)

Well it was a success! We had a blast! Thanks to all those that came, participated, and contributed to our house warming party. It truly warmed up our home with great memories that we'll always remember and never forget! :)

Two years has come so fast!

I can't believe it has been 2 years already. It's humbling to me that I have been blessed these last 2 1/2 years to have this amazing person by my side. And that he has been by my side from day 1. He gave me so many reasons to believe that there was hope for a Prince Charming in my life and continues today to knock out my doubts and hardships in life and makes me feel that I am the Luckiest (our song, cheezy I know but it's true).

We were able to have such a great day full of events for our anniversary on Saturday. It was Air Force week on Hill and so they had the Air Show this weekend. We were able to go both Saturday and Sunday. I love to see Dave get so excited about things. He's just so cute. I always have to drag him on walks but all I learned this weekend that all I have to do is take him to an Air Show and he'll walk for miles!

Us in front of Dave's favorite, the C-17

I met some funny people. Really! This guy when I turned to look at him he had his lips puckered, then another random person stopped me while I was walking back to my seats with my popcorn and asked if he could have some... I gladly gave him some.

Thunderbirds

We ate at Tepanyaki

Then we went to the Real game. It was a bummer they tied and it was a bit chilly but it was fun to experience an MLS game being such soccer funatics.

I love this boy!

Sunday Dave had to work one of the concession stands at the Air Show so I went and met up with friends and family. The weather almost ruined the day but luckily it cleared a little to be able to see some of the show. I don't know what it is with these June 6th and 7ths...they just are not the best days for weather, at least in the last 2 years. It was a lot of fun to have Kara and Nic and her dad and brother up here as well as my fam.

The F-22

Kaitlin is so tan! I remember those days.

Love the fam!

Read the Small Print, Please

Have you ever wondered what those labels boasting "Reduced-Fat," "All-Natural" or even "Organic" really mean to your love handles and thighs?? I recently bought this book, which I couldn't put down last night even through the movie Taken, and have been amazed at how naive I've been even being an avid health nut. Don't get me wrong I still indulge in the sweets and even faux-buttered movie popcorn but I'm just careful with the things I eat and the portions...sometimes that is the hard part I gotta admit.

While using the BodyBugg I've learned a ton about the things I really am putting into my body but this book opened my eyes even more. I always knew its not what's on the front of the package that matters, it's the back...but if you've noticed, they keep some of that writing pretty small which you know it is not always timely efficient to read on our busy schedules these days. Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that as much as the nutrition facts are important, it is just as important, if not more, to look at the ingredients! Yes, I don't understand more than half the words either but that's the problem. This book has an index on some of these ingredients or "additives." Also, the first ingredient listed is the most used in the product so if you see high fructose corn syrup at the top that is a red flag immediately! No Bueno! I've noticed in my hunt for healthy, filling food during these last 6 months that a lot of the time in reduced-fat or low-fat foods that they replace the good fats with bad ones like high fructose corn syrup. Which adds sugar thus its harder for your body to burn those calories which results to no pounds dropped or even pounds added on the scale. Just a heads up!
