Dr. Suess Cake for my Momma

this is a super fun cake to make! i got the idea from a friend's blog. Dave and I named it The Dr. Suess Cake for obvious reasons. I've been wanting to make it and the opportunity came around with my momma's birthday this month. It's this Saturday but we had a mini celebration with her sister's family this last weekend at our place.

Some Good R and R

For Easter weekend we packed up and headed south. We wanted to get away before Dave started his new job on Monday so we took most last week off (not that it is hard to when you are a sub and school is out anyway:)) and went to St. George with my fam. It was really nice to get away and take a few days to relax after working 3 straight weeks on our house. The first day there my mom treated Kaitlin, me and herself to pedicures! It was a great start to the R and R-ful weekend.

We also decided to take a visit to Zion's National Park. My first time ever going! It was super cool and beautiful! Kaitlin loved it, too. At first she was a little sketchy about the heights but then when we got her out on a hike she loved it and couldn't get enough of it.

I am awful because I didn't get any pics of our Easter festivities. We did dye eggs and we did hunt for our Easter baskets. (Dave and I played the Easter Bunny, too.) But no pics. I'm getting worse and worse with taking pics:( But our Easter was great! I was quite distrot that by Saturday all of the good Easter candy was gone. The shelves were wiped out everywhere! No cadbury eggs for me and no robin's eggs for Dave:(

We were also able to hangout with Dave's newly engaged buddy Kyle and his fiance Mckenzie. Congrats guys!

Home Updates

Well we've been working our little fingers off to get different projects done around our house. We now have the floors done (except for the stairs, those will take a bit longer) and we're only a room and a half away from having the whole upstairs painted! We've also been able to clean up our yard a bit (I keep forgetting to take a picture of our backyard; the people before us did an amazing job on it). We truly love our house and it is so much fun making it our own! Dave is trusting me with paint colors. I try to get his opinion but he always says, "I donno." He says I've done a good job thus far... Well I've posted a few progress pics but I don't want to post the final ones just yet so I'm giving a little peek to those that haven't seen it:)

Homeowner Bliss

We've been in our new house for 2 1/2 weeks and we love it! We're loving the house, we're loving Riverdale, we're loving all the fun projects we've taken on. And those projects aren't small ones. We had about a week in the house before the construction began. For the past week we have been painting, painting, and yes more painting along with ripping up carpet and base boards and this weekend we began laying our hardwood floors. So our house has been a construction sight for half the time we've lived here but its all for the better. We love it. We love waking up to the view we have from our bedroom window. Not that we are, but we feel like we are in the country with a field behind us (that they are developing in the near future but we're enjoying it now) and the clear view of the sky that we have when waking up. We're so close to everything (just a block from Target which is probably not a good thing). They have awesome running trails and a park just around our corners. The neighbors are great too. This was well worth our fight! I'll post some updated pictures next time hopefully. Also, thanks to Dave's fam for the long service hours you have already provided towards this house! We love you all!!!

Two Weddings and A HOUSE!

Well, it has been a busy and eventful week for us. Last weekend we had two weddings. One being my cousin Natalie's up in Logan. The second was Dave's good friend Grady on Saturday. Both of which were beautiful. Monday came and we were FINALLY able to close on our house! For those that don't know, we've been searching to find and buy a house since before we even moved back from St. Louis last summer. It's been one of the biggest rollercoasters of both of our lives. No joke. I didn't think I would admit this ever but it's honestly made us grow and learn and appreciate so much more. Wednesday we were able to move in so, although it was the middle of a work week and with most people we knew working, we seized the opportunity to move in. Loading the first trailer was Dave, me and my mom...Dave was a maniac! He was carrying couches and beds on his bare back. I tried my best to help but I'm a weakling compared to him. Since Wednesday we've been non-stop. We were able to take a couple days off of work so that has helped the process go a bit faster but we've still got some more to do, plus we're installing wood floors in the next couple weeks. I can't really express in words how happy and excited we are to be new homeowners with all of our belongings under one roof and not having to live out of bags, cars, and boxes after a year of that!!! In the words of my husband, WAHOO...OOO!

I LOVE YOU

Two years ago today, Dave dropped that butterfly-infusing 3 word phrase on me. Not that I hadn't been dying to hear it sooner, catching myself from saying it plenty of times, yet it was perfect! He waited for the right time to say it and when he said it, he meant it that is for sure. We picked a date to get married that same night! 3 months and 2 days later we were married!

It is amazing to see how much those 3 words have grown to something much greater than what I thought it was before Dave. These two years have been full of the true meaning of those 3 words. I am so grateful for Dave. He is my backbone and my better half most days. He gives so much and expects nothing in return...well, unless its a back scratch in church (but even that he's pretty self-less with). He is my everything!

Valentine's Tag

So I saw this on a friend's blog and wanted to talk about my husband even though Valentine's Day is over. Yes, our Valentine's was great! Very low key but great! Just what I wanted.



*What is your husband's name? David Albert Price (I was so glad to include a picture of us in our wedding announcement because it sounded like I was marrying an oldie:))

*How long have you been married? 2 years in June!

*How long did you date? Well we got married one day before our 6 month mark of dating:) I never thought I would be one to get married off that fast.

*How old is he? I usually answer this question by saying a 5 year trapped in a 23 year old body because he has the energy and is full of life like a young boy. (I didn't want it to sound like he was a child in a bad way so I had to explain myself:))

*Who eats the most sweets? Definitely Dave! I can't buy sweets without hiding them if I want them to last longer than a day.

*Who said I love you first? Dave but it almost slipped out a few times from me

*Who is taller? Him again; which I love! When we were dating I would always wear tall shoes so he thought I was a lot taller. It wasn't until we were married that he realized I wasn't as tall.

*Who can sing the best? I would say we're pretty even but I love his voice!

*Who is smarter? I think he would say me but I think it depends on what we're talking about. I just can remember things A LOT better and I'm better at directions than him:)

*Who does the laundry? I usually do it but he usually does the folding part

*Who pays the bills? The good thing is that we haven't had many so I think both.

*Who sleeps on the right side? We just switched sides to change things up. Looking at the bed Dave.

*Who mows the lawn? What lawn? (one day we'll have our own lawn)

*Who cooks dinner? Me! It's my favorite thing to do! Dave is great at cleaning up my mess:)

*Who drives? That would be Dave. Thanks to him we're still alive after many close encounters to death on the road

*Who is the first to admit they are wrong? Dave probably. I'm the first to break the silence though.

*Who asked who out first? Yep, Dave again:) He saw me from across the room and couldn't resist.

*Who wears the pants? Uh...that would be me. I even asked Dave and he agreed.

Some Catch Up Pictures and More

Saturday we went up to Park City to watch the International Freestyle Skiing Half-pipe Championships with Bridge and Ry. It was a blast! It was so cool when the skiers would do a trick right in front of where we were standing. Ten times cooler than watching it on the tv.

I was in charge of the food for my cousin Natalie's bridal shower. Can ya tell what her colors were??? I love doing this kind of stuff so when the opportunity arises I take it! Everyone loved the food, too!

These are a little late but here are pictures from our trip to Vegas and St. George over New Years. Vegas was crazy!

We went to a sports grill to watch the Sugar Bowl and see the Utes kick some b-hind. (Yes we are still Aggies but when it comes to football we don't like to admit that we are.)
Let me inform you that USU basketball is 22 and 1 which is they have the biggest winning streak in the nation! We're stoked for them! Here comes another Utah team to prove those big headed NCAA guys that Utah has some guts:)

It's been awhile...

Well it's been a few weeks and it's not really because I haven't had time. I assure you, I have had plenty of time but I just haven't had a ton to write about and my laptop broke down and Dave has been trying to fix it ever since so I can't post pics. I'm just going to have to tell you what we've been up to then:)

For Christmas Dave and my parents went in together on a bodybugg for me. It was a big surprise and a good one at that. I started it December 30 and so I've been on it for 3 weeks. It is the coolest little contraption. I've never been so fascinated with anything ever! I spend so much time on the computer entering what I ate and seeing how many steps I take and calories I burn. Well I've lost 5 pounds and I know that doesn't sound like a big number but it's huge for me! I haven't been able to lose more than 2 or 3 until now! I just feel so much better bout what I am eating and how I am feeling at the end of each day!!! I love it!! Thanks babe!

For New Years we decided to be adventurous and head to Vegas for the big celebration. Well it was a sight to see that's for sure. It was crazy! People everywhere! We spent the rest of the weekend in St. George at my family's house. Although only being in the high 40s, it felt so nice compared to the chilly days we were having in Salt Lake.

It was a weird feeling to not have any big things to look forward to come January 5th as USU started up a new semester. Dave began subbing again and I continued my serving at Smoky's. I've had a few interviews at schools in the Granite District. I'm really hoping for a job in Davis. I might just have to wait it out for the new school year to start in August.

2008 in a Wrap

Well most people send out letters and cards for the holidays. As I would love to do that, I feel like nothing great will be done til Dave and I final settle down, in our own place and have our space to freely move and live, so until then this is what your going to get and as we realize not everyone has a blog that we would like this to reach, so we send our apologies in our hearts to them.

2008 has been a heck of a year. And I wouldn't classify my usage of heck as up in the great. wonderful, fantastic words category. It wasn't the worst but it was rough and down-in-the dirt kinda year. I've heard many people say things like this about 2008. Many people are happy to see it go. As most are happy to see it go, our year was full of life's great (and not so great) moments...

Our year began up in our first little place in the Artic Tundra of Utah (as many have referred it as), Logan. It was a great little place. It was near where we needed to be, USU's campus though it was a treacherous walk up that almost-vertical hill. We enjoyed it. Dave worked at Pepperidge Farms where he loaded trailers. Rachel was working at Iggy's Sports Grill as a waitress. Both jobs did what they needed to. We were both busy, busy, busy with school and work. At the end of the Spring (more like winter) semester, we packed up and moved all our stuff to Jon and Julie's and the Nasella basements, all eccept a car full of things we could take along with us to St. Louis, Missouri.

St. Louis was a choice we made the year before to possibly get a head start in the finance area. Yes, Dave went door to door selling security systems. As for Rachel, she worked in the office setting up installations, doing paperwork, and a lot of other stuff. We were able to celebrate our first anniversary in St. Louis. Dave had to work on the day but we were able to to work around that. We even were able to get away for a day at the zoo (which was the hottest day ever!) and spend a night at a cute bed and breakfast. We lived in high class apartments that were actually right out of St. Louis in St. Charles. Our typical day was like this: in the morning you would find Rachel in the little workout room until the morning meeting, Dave fighting to try and train for LOTOJA as little as possible:); noon we would be at the meeting; about 1-8:30 p.m. Dave would be knocking and I would be in the office taking phone calls and doing paperwork; sometimes I was able to go play with the girls; 9:00-9:30 Dave would roll in and head straight to the computer and load the next Lost episode while I would finish making dinner. We were able to finish all 4 seasons of Lost in about a months time. We were addicted thanks to Jess.

At the end of our summer there the Nasella family made a trip out to visit. We were able to go see Carthage Jail and Nauvoo. It was amazing! We also went to the arch (for our 3rd time) and our 2nd Card's game. The Card's game was mostly for my dad. That stadium is one sight to see though. They even have a casino in the stadium. It was a good end to our summer. Missouri was gorgeous but we were sure ready to get back to Utah. We'll never forget the long trek back. We were determined to go straight through. The drive is about 1400 miles long but we were determined. Let's just say it was quite interesting. I've never had to push my eyelids so hard to keep them open. Past Cheyene we had to pull off and let Dave take a power-nap. I was so wide awake from the eerie feeling of nothing around us. It seemed as if the road between Evanston and Park City never was going to end. We swear we went into hallucinations. The Salt Lake Valley never looked so good coming out of Parley's.

Three days later we started each of our last semesters at Utah State. The first couple weeks were a bit crazy. We took a couple vacations. One to Lake Powell and the next weekend to Logan following Dave through his first LOTOJA bike race. Even though most of his training was in mountainless Missouri, he still finished strong! His support crew (me, Britt, and Cris) even missed him at a stop. Luckily his parents came to the rescue! (Yay for dependable parents!) It was such a great experience for all of us and a great accomplishment for Dave. Dave wants me to do it next year...we'll see if I can get through my long time fear of bikes.

December came quickly with Rachel's final week as a student teacher and Dave's final weeks trekking up to Logan a couple times a week. December 13th we completed our journey at USU. We both walked. It was so fun to finish that big step in life with the love of your life. It made it that much better!

We are currently trying to end our trend as ping-pong balls and finally settle down into a house of our own. It's been a long road but I guess we are learning great things along the way. We are learning, and continue to learn and grow each day in this adventure we call life.

I hope all of you are having a wonderful Christmas! I know we've had one thus far! We've been able to spend time with family, talked with our brothers which are both serving missions, and have both been spoiled beyond our dreams. Its been great for us! We would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas!!! Hope it's full of joy and happiness:)

WE DID IT!!!

Well as of last Saturday Dave and I are college graduates! It's such a great feeling! Wahoo!! We traveled up with my family Friday night (which was the best choice due to the bad storm Saturday morning half our audience didn't show-that dang weather always decides to go wacko on big days of ours). The storm made the walk from the Fieldhouse to the Spectrum nippy and a bit dangerous for those girls in heels. It was such a great experience to graduate and even better to graduate with my other half. Dave was at the beginning of the line and I was towards the end so when I walked Dave stood up and came and kissed me and I guess it was caught on the jumbotron for the whole stadium to see...well we always wanted to be on the kiss cam at the games, I would say that is one step up!

We ate at Maddox with family afterwords, which was so good! We got a video camera from Dave's parents. Dave has been wanting a video camera for a good while now and it's a super cool one! It's smaller than Dave's hands! We have some good pics but the camera was left at Maddox so we'll be posting them later. Wish us luck on our transition into the real world!!! :)
